Why a diocesan Lent Course?

Everyday God grew out of a request to offer a diocesan course in Christian discipleship – with the purpose of helping congregations deepen their Christian faith and life.

5 weeks of group meetings

The course consisted of material for five weeks’ meetings, based on the Gospel for the previous Sunday.

Two traveling speakers

Angela Ashwin, the much appreciated writer on prayer and spirituality, looked at issues of deepening our prayer life.

Revd Dr Gavin Ashenden, Chaplain to Sussex University, looked at living out our faith day by day.

Liturgical material

To help deepen and focus worship during Lent, the Diocesan Liturgy Group prepared a selection of liturgical resources for Ash Wednesday, the six Sundays of Lent, Holy Week, and Easter Day. These drew on new material being prepared by the Liturgical Commission.

A very simple Daily Office was available for people to use alone or in groups. This has been updated for ordinary use.

Material for use with children and young people was also available, following similar themes to the adult course.
