Celebrations as four new priests and ten new deacons ordained
Wakefield Diocese has been strengthened with the ordination at the weekend of four new priests and ten new deacons.

The Bishop of Wakefield, the Rt Rev Stephen Platten ordained three people to the priesthood at the Church of the Community of the Resurrection, Mirfield on June 30: They were Neil Traynor who will serve his title at St Mary with St Paul, Barnsley; Tom Hiney who will serve at Dewsbury Minster and John Whitney for St. John the Baptist, Kirkheaton.
On Sunday Bishop Platten ordained John Flood priest at St Mary’s Todmorden for the parish of Todmorden .
Ten new people were welcomed to the diaconate on Saturday in Halifax Minster. Ailsa Brooke, Upper Holme Valley Team Parish; Darren Percival, St. John the Baptist,Dodworth; Paul Fox, St. Cuthbert, Ackworth; Stuart Kilpatrick; St Anne in the Grove, Southowram and St Thomas the Apostle, Claremount; Lesley Greenwood-Haigh, Almondbury with Farnley Tyas Team Parish; Matthew Hunter, Halifax Minster; Clifford Kay, St Hilda’s, Halifax and St John’s Warley; Andrew Hall, St Martin, Brighouse & Clifton; Gill Page, St. Mary’s Todmorden and Keith Freeman, St Paul, Shepley & Emmanuel, Shelley.
