Fairtrade Fondue for World Fairtrade Day
Pupils from BBG Academy and the Mayor of Kirklees were treated to a fairtrade fondue of warm melted chocolate and fresh strawberries at St Paul's Church, Birkenshaw.

The pupils and staff from BBG Academy, formerly Birkenshaw Middle School paid a special visit to St Paul's Church in Birkenshaw, where they were warmly welcomed by members of St Paul's Call-In.
Pupils, Staff and Call-In members all experienced the fairtrade fondue of chocolate and strawberries to celebrate World Fairtrade Day which falls on Saturday 12 May this year. The Mayor of Kirklees, Councillor Eric Firth, who has strongly supported Fairtrade for many years, said it was "a privilege to be there with the youngsters, and the not-so-youngsters!"
The Mayor chatted with those attending, affirming the school and community relationship. He congratulated the school on becoming the first school in Kirklees to achieve Fairtrade Status at secondary level. He also enjoyed sampling the chocolate fondue!
