Happy Birthday Wakefield Diocese

The Bishop of Wakefield has issued an open invitation to come together to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of our diocese next year.

The Rt Revd Stephen Platten has organised a series of services spanning the diocese starting in April at Halifax Minster and concluding in October at Dewsbury Minster with the official birthday celebration on May 18th in the renewed Wakefield Cathedral .

Said Bishop Platten: “Our celebrations of the 125th anniversary of the Diocese of Wakefield provides us with an opportune moment to reflect with thanksgiving God’s work among us here in West and South Yorkshire.

“ It is a time for looking back to what has been achieved through God’s grace in our life together but it is also a time to look forward with confidence.

“There are many exciting activities and events being planned to celebrate our life together and I hope that you will find an opportunity to participate in this joyful celebration,” he added.
