The Wakefield Resource Centre at Church House in Wakefield. Resources for working among children and young people in churches and in schools.

Wakefield Resource Centre

In summer 2009 the Wakefield Resource Centre was upgraded. Using information about what is used most the amount of material in the Centre has been pruned. It is now easier to find the best resources and there is room to put out more of the items that are used most often.

The Centre is now a place where you can take time to sit and browse the resources that are available, plan how you might use them or discuss ideas.

The way to borrow or book items from the Resource Centre in Wakefield is currently the same as before the summer. Either call in, select the item you wish to borrow and book it out on the computer in the Centre, or contact us and we can get it ready for you to collect. We are also looking to add some new features in 2010.

The catalogue on line:

We hope to have the entire list of titles available to view through this website. This will enable you to see what is at the Centre from your laptop! If there is something you would like you can contact us and we can see if it is available and reserve it for you.

Deanery Delivery:

The Centre is a wonderful resource for the whole diocese, but it can be difficult for those furthest away to be able to use it. We are looking to provide a delivery and collection run to every deanery each quarter. This will mean that you will be able to request items to be delivered on the next delivery date. Those resources will then be delivered to a location in your deanery. After three months they will be collected and returned to the Resources Centre. We hope that this will make the resources much more accessible across the whole diocese.

Resource Recipes:

Sometimes a resource does not contain all the ideas needed for a particular service or event. We hope to create a “Recipe Book” to help create useful packages. There will be packages for Multigenerational services including options for activities, sermon ideas, intercessions etc. and packages for group meetings including icebreakers, games, input, prayer ideas etc.

If you liked that …

There will be an “If you liked that…” feature showing resources to follow up the material you have been using.

Sales:

There will no longer be any sale of goods through the Resource Centre. If you wish to purchase resources please contact the Cathedral Bookshop on 01924 373923.
