The Mother's Union PrayerLoving Lord,
Midday PrayersMembers are encouraged to spend a few minutes in prayer at midday throughout the week. Because there are members around the world, there is a continuous flow of prayer, supporting all aspects of family life as well as their fellow members working in MU projects. Members simply try to give themselves a little space around noon and use the familiar prayers we print below. There are additional prayers on The Mothers' Union website.
PRAYERSWe beseech you, O Lord, to pour your grace into our hearts; that as we have known the incarnation of your Son, Jesus Christ, by the message of an angel, so by his cross and passion we may be brought to the glory of his resurrection, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O God, our heavenly Father, we ask you to bless the work of the Mothers' Union throughout the world and especially in each diocese for which we pray today…. [*]; bless our members in their lives and in their homes, that they, being strengthened in love to you and to each other, may serve you faithfully to your glory; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Blessed Saviour, at this hour you hung upon the cross, stretching out your loving arms, grant that we may look to you and be saved; who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.
O Saviour of the world, who by your cross and precious blood has redeemed us, save us and help us, we humbly pray. [* Details of the dioceses prayed for each day are in the Mothers’ Union Prayer Diary, published twice a year, price £2.50, including postage, available from the Publications Officer: Mrs Elizabeth Sheard.]
