The Mothers’ Union, Wakefield Diocese is linked with fellow members in seven other dioceses around the world:

Adelaide (Australia)
Karamoja (Uganda)
Kumi (Uganda)
Soroti (Uganda)
Tamale (Ghana)
The Murray (Australia)
Willochra (Australia)

Between 1st and 5th September each year, the members in each of these dioceses pray especially for each other. Because of their different time zones there is a continual cycle of prayer.

Each year the Faith, Prayer and Policy Unit Co-ordinator (Hilary Pollard) prepares special prayers, focussing on the current activities and difficulties in each diocese, using material collated by the Worldwide Officer (Marlene Bramley).  Each branch is allocated a slot of 20 minutes. Typically members will meet together at this time, perhaps in church but often in one member’s home.

Individual members or branches maintain regular correspondence with members and branches in the linked dioceses. It is remarkable how similar are the joys and difficulties of family life throughout the world, despite the very different social conditions of members in other countries.

For further information contact Hilary or Marlene through the Diocesan Office.
