The Society of Catholic Priests (SCP) is an international, inclusive Society for male and female priests within the Anglican Communion. The Society exists to promote the formation and support of priestly spirituality and catholic evangelism. Members of the Society believe that we belong to the One Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, ordaining men and women to serve as Deacons, Priests and Bishops in the Church of God; in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist; in the use and practice of the seven sacraments of the Church. Members of the Society rejoice in their membership and priesthood within the worldwide Anglican Communion. They affirm the catholic heritage in this Church as a rich and living tradition which, rooted in history, is open to the working of God's Holy Spirit in today's changing world. The Society is a federation of Diocesan Chapters, and has a membership of over 500. Annual Conferences and retreats take place for all members. The local Chapter, within the Dioceses of Wakefield and Bradford, meets about six times a year for Mass, lunch and discussion and mutual support. Further information is available from:
Secretary: An Introduction to the Society, and a message from Archbishop Rowan Williams, the Society's patron, can be found on www.scp.org.uk.
